The Daily Notes template I use in Roam Research after 1 year of daily use and refinement.
Last year, I started using Roam Research. Pretty soon, I knew I needed structure. That’s when I discovered the power of templates.
The first thing you need to know before building any good system is what you want to do, and then how you use it.
This is the Daily Notes template I use in Roam Research after 3 months of daily use and refinement.
It helps me:
• Perform a daily standup, track sleep, mood, and energy
• Review past TODOs so I never forget an open task
• Interstitial journalling
This is the template in its current form:

And this is how I use it today:
Task Management
Queries are a powerful feature in Roam.
I use it in my Daily Tasks section to make sure I review any remainingTODOs I created anywhere on the previous day.
Each morning, before starting my day, I review outstanding tasks. This will show me any tasks that I created the day before and didn’t complete, or that I tagged as due today.
From this list, I check off tasks that were done and select others to complete today.

Interstitial journalling
Once I’ve started my day, I like to follow interstitial journaling to record when I’ve changed tasks.
Whenever I switch tasks and want to remember something, I create a timestamp with /current time and write down what it is I’m doing. Nested beneath that, I take notes relevant to what I’m doing. I also use this for recording notes from calls and other important events as I go.
